Using our local mirror server for Ubuntu 12.04

Say you wanted to update your Ubuntu 12.04 LTS system to use our repository (recently upgraded).

Just follow these instructions and you’ll be using our repository for your updates. The Ubuntu update system will fall back to their repositories as/if needed.

If you are a VMware vSphere user then skip their tools and instead install open-vm-tools. Never worry again about having the right modules installed for your running kernel.

Replace /etc/apt/sources.list with the content below, then run:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

If you are using VMware and want to use the Ubuntu-supplied tools, then:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install open-vm-tools
